Dear HHS Band Students and Parents,
I hope you’re all as excited as I am for Saturday’s Husky Band Day! I wanted to pass on some last-minute reminders so that Saturday runs as smoothly as possible.
Tomorrow’s home football game will run exactly like last week’s game. 3:45 practice, 5:00 dinner, 5:45 uniforms, 6:15 pregame, 7:00 kickoff, 8:15ish halftime, 9:30ish end of game.
What time do I need to be at school?
Chaperones and I will arrive at 5am. You can arrive after that, but before 5:15am for sure. We must be on the road by 5:30am to make our 9am rehearsal. Chaperones are April Boneski, Linda Chan, Sidney Chan, DeeAnn Jurgens, Anna-Melissa Lyons, Sean Lyons, Janell Morley, John Morley, and Mary Morris.
What do I need to wear?
Please wear whatever fits underneath your marching band uniform. Athletic shorts and a t-shirt work well. We will be changing into uniforms on the bus, so please take that into account. The weather forecast for Seattle is cloudy with a high of 73. Perfect!
What do I need to bring?
Your instrument, lyre, flip folder with Husky Band Day music, sack lunch, money for dinner (and money for concessions if you wish to purchase anything during the game), and a SPARE PAIR OF LONG BLACK SOCKS. Since we have a game the night before, it will be absolutely crucial that you make sure your uniform is all put away properly in your garment bag. Keep in mind that any student not in full uniform, including black socks and marching band shoes, will not be allowed on the field to perform.
Sack Lunches
All students and chaperones need to bring a sack lunch with them Saturday morning. Please make sure everything you bring for lunch is disposable (i.e. no coolers, silverware, Tupperware, etc.). Please write your names on the sacks. All lunches will be placed in large cardboard boxes and brought to our lunch area.
Lunch is not until noon, so make sure to eat breakfast. The boosters are providing Costco muffins, juice boxes, and granola bars on the bus on the way up, but if that isn’t enough to hold you over to lunch then bring some snacks.
Snacks and Drinks
Students are allowed to bring snacks and drinks on the bus (clean up after yourself). Pursuant to Husky Stadium rules, we will only be allowed to bring any Coca-Cola products into the stadium as long as they are in unopened plastic bottles. No cans or glass. This means if you want to bring water into the stadium in your lunch, it needs to be Dasani, Smart Water, or some other Coke product. I know that sounds strange, but I’m just passing on what UW has told me. UW will be providing us with 2 liters of soda and bottled water during lunch and in our seats. These rules don’t apply on the bus; you can drink all the Pepsi and Kirkland Signature water you want J The boosters will also provide bottled water on the way up and the way home.
Are tickets still available to the game? What channel will it be on?
Discounted tickets are available by following the link below to purchase tickets. For your reference, Hockinson HS will be positioned on south sideline (visiting team bench) roughly from the 50 yard line and south (toward Lake Washington) to about the 30 yard line.

You will need to enter the promo code: UWBAND
Otherwise, the game will be broadcasted on the PAC-12 network. Sorry DirecTV users, you’re out of luck! Kickoff is at 2pm.
What time will students be back?
I anticipate returning to school around 10 or 11pm.
If you have any further questions regarding Husky Band Day, please feel free to email me back. See you all bright and early Saturday! Oh, and Friday evening… 🙂
