Upcoming Events and Deadlines

Dear Band Parents and Students,

 

I wanted to run down a quick list of reminders of upcoming events and deadlines.  Please email me back if you have any questions.

 

Fall Sports Pep Band:  We are continuing our tradition from last year of supporting fall sports teams in addition to football.  We are trying to put together a band for each of these games.  These games are not mandatory, but would could towards earning a band letter and, more importantly, show that we support more than just the football team.  As long as we have all parts covered we should be able to make it work.  Please check your schedules and sign up for games in the band room.

  • Tuesday, 9/29 – Volleyball (6pm call time)  MUST have a drumset player
  • Wednesday, 9/30 – Cross Country (3:00 call time, need transportation to Hockinson Meadows) MUST have a small drumline
  • Wednesday, 10/14 – Cross Country (3:00 call time, need transportation to Hockinson Meadows) MUST have a small drumline
  • Thursday, 10/15 – Volleyball (6pm call time) MUST have a drumset player
  • Tuesday, 10/27 – Volleyball (6pm call time) MUST have a drumset player
  • Thursday, 10/29 – Volleyball (6pm call time) MUST have a drumset player

 

 

Football Friday:  Our next home football game is this Friday, October 2.  Students will have the same call time of 3:45 and will place orders for dinner in class this week.  Please be sure you have enough money in your student lunch account at school.

 

Pep Band Shirts:  Our new pep band shirts are here!  Students, please bring $9 cash or check (made out to HHS Music Boosters) in an envelope with your name on it and turn it into the booster box in the band room.  Students have shirts waiting for them here at school.  If you or your parents would like to order a customized t-shirt or hoodie sweatshirt, be sure to visit our online store.  Orders received online by this Sunday, October 4 will be delivered to the school and not subject to shipping.  After October 4, you may be charged a shipping fee.

 

Program Advertisements:  The absolute last day for submitting ads for our concert program is Monday, October 5.  Please be sure to turn in your minimum of 1 advertisement by that time.  Remember that this is a fundraiser for our program, and any students who sell ads can apply the proceeds towards their Hawaii trip or any other band expense.    Parents:  Don’t forget that you can design your own tribute ad and submit it for the program!  Prices are the same as a business ad and can be any of those sizes (business card, quarter page, half page, full page).  Take this prime opportunity to embarrass your student in public and support our program!  If you need more program ad order forms and letters, please click here.

 

Chinook Books:  The last day for selling Chinook Books and Apps will be Tuesday, October 6.  Please try and sell as many as you can by then, and then bring in any money and unsold materials to turn into the booster box.  If you need more books and apps to sell, Mrs. Taylor will be in the band room Tuesday and Friday this week.

 

Clothes for A Cause:  Please be going through your closets, drawers, and attics looking for clothing and garments you can donate to Clothes For A Cause.  Bring the materials in a garbage bag (marked with HHS Band) and turn into the collection box in the high school office by October 30.  The band program will receive 15 cents per pound of donated items (which adds up after a while).  Donations are tax-deductible.  Click here for more information.

 

Mattress Fundraiser:  Our 3rd Annual Mattress Fundraiser will be back this year on Saturday, October 31 from 10 to 4 at the high school.  Please click here for more information.  Students can pass out these flyers with their names on it, and anyone who buys a mattress and mentions your name will receive money for their student band accounts to go toward the Hawaii trip or other band expenses.

 

Hawaii Trip:  We still have a few more spots for the Spring Performance Tour to Honolulu, Hawaii May 25-30, 2016.  To join, please fill out this registration form and mail it into the travel company with a $200 deposit.  The trip must be paid in full by March 25.  PLEASE take advantage of fundraising opportunities!

 

Website:  Please make sure to stay up-to-date with the band by visiting www.hockinsonmusic.com often.  Check out the calendar, announcements, and more.  Don’t forget all band students have a Charms account at www.charmsoffice.com.  Login to the parents/students section with the school code “hockinsonband”.  Your password is your last name and first initial (for example, “cmcenry”).

 

Social Media:  If you have Facebook, be sure to “like” our page at www.facebook.com/hockinsonband and follow us on Twitter at @HockinsonHSBand.  Our Student Band Council does a great job posting pictures and videos from events, and reminders about upcoming events are frequently added.
