Wind Ensemble Audition Results
Thanks to all of you who submitted auditions for Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band next year. There were dozens of quality auditions, and the process to come to a decision was not always an easy one for every section.
For those of you who were selected for one or both ensemble, congratulations! If you are new to the group (or have grown significantly since last fall) you will need to be fitted for a tuxedo or dress at Band Camp.
If you were not selected this time around, don’t be discouraged. Your skills, expertise, and leadership will be of great value for other ensembles. I’m more than happy to discuss your audition and what you can do to improve for next time.
Several sections are not completely filled. If you are interested in auditioning for one of the open seats in one of the groups please let me know and submit the audition prior to the first day of band camp on August 8. Be sure you thoroughly practice the audition over the summer. It would be advisable to seek out help from another student in your section or, better yet, take some private lessons. I’m happy to provide a list of instructors.
The sections still in need are as follows:
Jazz Band: Trombones (up to 2 more)
Wind Ensemble: Trumpets (up to 2 more), French Horns (up to 2 more), Trombones (up to 1 more), Baritones (up to 2 more), String Bass (up to 1 more)
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at corey.mcenry@hocksd.org. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and we will see you at Band Camp (August 6 for drumline, August 8-12 for everyone).
