We are less than 2 weeks away from our Mattress Fundraiser! Last week in class, students were given packets of flyers to distribute, along with a text message to share. If you need more flyers or would like to share the flyer via email, text, or social media please use this file. We need each student to find 1 person to purchase a mattress. Since 1 in 10 people are currently in the market for a mattress, each family should ask at least 10 people to come to the high school to view and try out our display models on Saturday, October 28. New this year, in addition to earning money for our band program (including the trip to Hawaii) students also earn cash incentives from Custom Fundraising Solutions (the mattress folks) for every person who purchases a mattress and mentions your student’s name! This year that money is going straight into students’ pockets instead of the booster account as an incentive for finding someone to buy.
On the day of the event (Saturday, October 28), we need students and a couple adult chaperones to wave signs, play instruments, and dance around in mattress costumes on street corners in and around Hockinson. We will be waving signs in front of HHS, at the intersection at Hockinson Market, and at the intersection of Ward and 162nd by Walgreens. We have 3 shifts available at each site: 9:30-12:00, 12:00-2:30, and 2:30-5:00. Please visit this link and sign up for at least one shift. Students who participate in at least 1 full shift will earn points toward a band letter, and for each shift you work you will receive a “Golden Ticket” and be entered into a raffle for an additional cash prize if we meet our minimum threshold of 30 mattresses sold.
New this year: Students should collect the name, phone number, and/or email address for each person they talk to who guarantees they will show up as a potential customer on Saturday, October 28 so we can personally reach out to them to invite them and answer any questions. Students will also receive a “Golden Ticket” for each potential customer and be entered into a raffle for an additional cash prize if we meet our minimum threshold of 30 mattresses sold.
